BLP, Internal Audit

Business Leadership Program Overview:

Launching your future with Synchrony’s Business Leadership Program (BLP) is bold, challenging and ambitious. The BLP is a two-year program where our goal is to expose you to our business and provide an immersive experience that accelerates your career. You’ll experience three-rotations within one of 10 functional tracks (Credit & Capital Management, Data Analytics, Enterprise Operations, Finance, HR, Internal Audit, Marketing, Risk Management, Sales & Relationship Management, and Technology). As part of each rotation you’ll complete purposeful, real-world assignments within your functional track, each with a slightly different focus, so that you can experience more parts of our business. But the opportunities don’t stop there–you’ll crank up your energy and ambition to a whole new level with two cross-functional projects, a month-long community service experience, exposure to leadership, training, networking, and more.
 

Internal Audit Track Description:

A BLP Internal Audit (IA) Career Track member will gain a unique top-down, holistic view of our organization. IA performs reviews of various business & control functions across finance, lending, compliance, and risk. You will have experiences such as:

  • Audit and testing work (design, planning, field work, executing audits, reporting)
  • Ongoing business monitoring (how the business stays involved in emerging topics and trends)
  • Industry research (what regulators look for, what raises red flags, upcoming trends)
  • Formal training (compliance, technical audit)

 
As part of the Internal Audit Track, you will have exposure to senior management; you will be directly involved in making value-add internal control recommendations to management and will contribute to the reporting of thematic risk and control issues to the Audit & Risk Committees of the Board of Directors. As a financial services company, we are required by our stakeholder’s & regulators to have an IA function; we are building one that is best in class.

  • Relevant coursework or intern/work experience within Internal Audit
  • Knowledge and/or experience of US GAAP, SEC, and SOX reporting requirements and processes
  • Knowledge and experience with FRB BHC, OCC, and FDIC regulatory reporting requirements and related guidance

 

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Internal Audit, Finance, Accounting, Math, Economics, or a related field
  • Excellent academic record – Minimum overall 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Academic excellence with financial or quantitative interest/competence
  • Geographic mobility
